The mission committee is responsible for mission outreach campaigns and offerings for the congregation. The special offerings that are collected for missions each year are:
Neighbors in Need supporting the Council for American Indian Ministry and the Justice and Witness Ministries of the UCC
The Christmas Fund a Christmas appeal supporting retired pastors and clergy in need.
Angels for Adoption a local Christmas program providing gifts for victims of domestic violence
Just Peace Appeal supporting the UCC wider ministries for peace and justice in the world
One Great Hour of Sharing supporting world and local disaster relief
Rainbow of Caring (Blankets and Tools of Hope) providing blankets for disasters and tools and equipment for community and family projects
In addition HCC provides financial support to Project Learn (Bridgeport Council of Churches), Bridgeport Habitat for Humanity and Spooner House.

Coffee Project Beginning in April, 2005 the Mission Committee will offer gourmet coffee to order through the UCC Coffee Project. Ordering your regular or organic coffee through the church allows more of your money to reach the farmer and you will also help raise funds for the church ($1 is added to each bag of coffee with those moneys going back to HCC’s general operating fund). Orders will be placed on the first Sunday of each month for delivery on the third Sunday. Order forms will be available in the alcove, fellowship hall and can be downloaded here. You can drop off your orders after church, fax them to 203-929-5823 or email your orders to d.deeds@ih-sc.com . |
Not all the mission work done at HCC is associated with the Mission Committee. Numerous other mission projects are sponsored by other groups and individuals in the church. Some of these include:
