Safe Church Committee
of Huntington Congregational Church

* What is the Safe Church Committee?
    This committee is in place to set up policies and guidelines to protect our church family   We are currently working on developing church school and other youth activity policies and procedures to address the safety of all children and adults, including their emotional and physical well being.

* OK, What's happened in our church to make us need this committee?

    Nothing! (Thank God!) We are  pro-active committee and hope that by working in collaboration with other church committees we, the church, will be able to prevent any incident from happening.  If something does happen, we will have procedures in place so we may deal with the incident in a calm and responsible manner.
* Who's on the committee?
The Safe Church Committee is made of a wide range of church members - from the Christian Education Board, the Business Committee, Diaconate, Women's Fellowship, our Nursery School, a parent, the Christian Education Associate, and the pastor.  The professional and personal skills which the committee members possess include nursing, counseling, teaching, business and work place experience, Boy Scouts, fire fighter, personal safety and first aid training.

"How to reach the Safe Church Committee?"
A call, letter or email to the office of Huntington Congregational Church to the attention of the Safe Church Committee will find it's way to us.

* The Safe Church Committee wants church members to be aware of what we are working on.  We will have information in the church's newsletter, The Belfry , as we meet.  We have begun making informational presentations to various boards and committees of the church in order to help educate members on the issues involved.  It will be of great use to receive their input and feedback. We are meeting once a month in the church library and our meeting dates and times are usually listed in the church bulletin.
